![]() Just save the one you take off as a spare for the rear when you wear that one out. I have no complaints, and sidewalls on both are holding up really well. It would scare the crap out of me to ride that on the front unless the trail was really tacky.I think the front 29-3 works great, it is wider and has more volume so you can run it at a lower pressure. You can see a pic of the tread here: is definitely not a great tread pattern for a front tire, but it is pretty grippy as a rear when climbing. I think Kev84 is washing out due to a rear tire design being mounted on the front (and the dusty, loose conditions). I'd ask around, check the user ratings, and get what the most well reviewed tire set in your price range.Īfter you've ridden through several sets of tires, you'll know better what you like and don't like in a tire. I don't think I've ridden enough hours or enough different types of tires in enough different types of terrains to have a strong opinion. In my experience, picking a tire is a bit more art than science. I also see Kenda, Schwalbe, IRC, Continental, Hutchinson, and Maxxis on the trail as well. I've ridden tires from all of them and they were all good, though each had its own strengths and weaknesses. I thought I saw several tire MFR's mentioned: Specialized, Panaracer, WTB, and Bontrager. Is that something to consider or is that simply a matter of choice/brand preference? Thanks again. Sorry, another question: All of the front/rear tire pairs mentioned here have been by the same manufacturer.
